The Aboriginal Housing and Homelessness Forum (AHHF) is proud to announce the launch of its Shared Equity Mortgage Calculator, a tool designed to support Aboriginal Victorians in navigating the home ownership process.
Developed as part of the Aboriginal Home Ownership Hub, the calculator provides clear insights into how shared equity schemes can make buying a home more accessible, by breaking down costs, potential savings, and affordability scenarios.
The launch has been covered by the National Indigenous Times, highlighting the impact of shared equity schemes in helping more First Nations Victorians become homeowners, and the importance of home ownership in building generational wealth for Aboriginal Victorians. Read the full article here.
AHHF Chair Darren Smith welcomed the initiative, stating:
“Home ownership is about more than just a house – it’s about stability, security, and generational wealth. This calculator is a practical tool that helps put the power back in the hands of Aboriginal families, ensuring they have the knowledge and support to achieve a self-determined future.”
The Aboriginal Home Ownership Hub and Shared Equity Mortgage Calculator are part of AHHF’s ongoing work to close the home ownership gap and provide culturally safe, practical pathways for Aboriginal Victorians to secure long-term housing stability.
